THE CHALLENGE

MY ROLE: CREATIVE TEAM LEAD
CLIENT: IHG

To create the responsive website and app experience for avid hotels, the new hotel brand at IHG. This hotel was being built from ground up, which means that everything from physical infrastructure, to branding and visual design system was all happening in parallel to building out the online experience.

The experience needed to introduce the brand to prospective guests, provide valuable information about the hotels to aid in the decision making process, and utilize IHG’s new modular design system.

 
 
 

RESPONSIBILITY

My responsibility on the project was to ensure that the design experience launch successfully before the opening of the first hotel in Oklahoma City. I led a team a balanced team that consisted of UX Architect, Visual Designer, Content Strategist and Interactive Prototyper. I had to ensure that all requirements and communication within our internal team and across IHG departments/agencies were aligned with what was being designed.

APPROACH

We worked in 2 week design sprints and in parallel with our Branding and Dev team counterparts. In parallel meant that while we were creating the digital designs, the avid hotel brand and design system was also being created at the same time. This is why 2 week design sprints became critical to the success of our work. As each sprint came to approval stage, we finalized the experience by creating the interactive prototype in webflow. This prototype served as the presentation layer to our dev and branding team so that we could continue to the final launch.

The entire brand launched digitally in 8 months, which was a new success for IHG. This couldn’t have been done without the dedication of the team to work collaboratively and in a very agile way.
